Η απαράμιλλη ποιότητα και τεχνική των κρυστάλλων Βοημίας παραμένει αναλλοίωτη στο χρόνο, διατηρώντας μέχρι και σήμερα τη θέση της μεταξύ των κορυφαίων υαλουργών στον κόσμο.Τα πρώτα εργοστάσια υαλουργίας δημιουργήθηκαν στην Τσεχία στα τέλη του 13ου αιώνα. Το 17ο αιώνα η τσεχική βιομηχανία γυαλιού συγκαταλεγόταν ήδη στις κορυφαίες παγκοσμίως. Οι Τσέχοι υαλουργοί ανακάλυψαν το άχρωμο γυαλί υψηλής ποιότητας, που αργότερα ονομάστηκε «κρύσταλλο Βοημίας» και έτσι είναι γνωστό έως και σήμερα. Πρώτοι οι καλλιτέχνες στην αυλή του βασιλιά Ροδόλφου Β’ στο Κάστρο της Πράγας άρχισαν να σκαλίζουν και να χαράσσουν αυτό το γυαλί. Και πάλι πρώτοι οι Τσέχοι υαλουργοί επεξεργάστηκαν ρουμπινί γυαλί που βαφόταν με χρυσό, θολό γυαλί (γυαλί οπαλίου) και έμαθαν να κατασκευάζουν ποτήρια από γυαλί περισσοτέρων επιστρώσεων με εγχάραξη επιφανείας, να ζωγραφίζουν το γυαλί, να το χαράσσουν με οξέα και να το επαργυρώνουν. Αργότερα, εφηύραν το μαύρο και το ιριδίζων πρασινωπό γυαλί με πρόσμειξη ουρανίου.Σήμερα τα κρύσταλλα Βοημίας θεωρούνται τα διαυγέστερα όλων και με την μεγαλύτερη λάμψη.
